Asile LGBT (GE)

The association welcomes and supports LGBTQI+ refugees – lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and other sex, gender and/or non-heterosexual and non-cisgender sexual identities.

LGBTQI+ migrants and refugees are particularly vulnerable and are often subject to discrimination and stigmatization. The aims of the Asile LGBT association are to understand and combat methods of marginalizing and making LGBTQI+ refugees invisible. It helps them to benefit from legal and social protection.
It takes action in three ways:

Welcome and information for LGBTQI+ refugees

Asile LGBT offers a

space for support and listening in individual, confidential, safe and anonymous consultations. Consultations are by appointment.

Asile LGBT also offers a service where LGBTQI+ migrants who have arrived recently are welcomed by people with a similar profile (migrants and LGBTQI+) who have been living in Switzerland for a longer period. Together, they organize social events, such as communal meals, a film club, and various activities aimed at promoting the visibility of LGBTQI+ people (conferences, Pride, etc.).

Raising awareness

The association proposes interventions to provide information on the issue of LGBTQI+ and its challenges, to create spaces for dialogue and to promote living together.
